Hey guys,
I've never touched an outboard before, just sternndrives and such...
A buddy of mine called me up after he changed his impeller. He said that he did everything according to the manual, but now cant get the controls to go into gear.
I am heading out there in a couple days (thursday to be exact, my day off) to try and give him a hand, but I have never worked on an OB before.... I REALLY dont want to be stuck out there all day trying to figure it out... i wanna help him, but I would much rather be fishing for sturgeon that day....lol
He makes it sound like the hand control/shifter is stuck or something. He said it starts up and idles, but he cant get it to accelerate or go into gear. Would you suppose he did not adjust the shift cable when he put the lower unit back on???
I just wanna have an idea of what to look for when I see this OB. Should be a new experience for me, although from looking at diagrams online it looks like a smaller version of an Alpha one.
Anyways, any info or insight would be greatly appreciated.
