Hi,
I have a 2000 Johnson 115 Ocean Pro which I used
recently for the first time this year. It ran fine for the 1st hour. When I idled down to start looking for a fishing spot the motor cut out. I couldn't get it started and got towed in.
Later that day I took out fuel filter (it was clean) and was able to start the engine, but it seemed to run rough. I noticed the primer bulb
was limp. I thought that I might have water in the gas and added fuel conditioner. It still seems to run rough and the primer bulb is limp.
Any thoughts? Thanks

Pump primer bulb by hand, if engine runs ok, check fuel system, if not check ignition system.

I pumped the primer bulb by hand, it didn't stay
hard while the engine still seemed to idle rough.
What typically would I look for in a fuel system
problem, I didn't smell any gas fumes, so I'm guessing the fuel line fitting are tight.
The plugs look O.K. ????

Primer bulb will not stay hard with engine running. Check the power pack.

I don't have much expericence with engine repair, but is there some check that I can make to see if its a power pack problem?

Connnect a timing light to each sparkplug wire in rotation, the cylinder/s that are misfiring will cause the timing light to blink, the good cylinders will have smooth flashes. You need manual and meters to check the ignition system.
