Helping my friend take his engine to outboard hospital this afternoon. Engine bogs down, barely runs above 3500 rpms, once engine warms up. Runs fine when cold. Fine at idle. Checked gas & filter..OK. Spark OK. Is it worth replacing ignition coil before going to hospital. Can a coil work good when engine cold, but then crap out when warm?

Yes coils can do funny things along with powerpacks. May be that the choke opens and now starving for fuel.

coils, power packs, and stators can all start to fail when heated. there are about 6-7 pages in this link, for electrical testing, find his motor. also you can take the boat out, with an induction timing light, and when it starts to fail. check the spark with the timing light of each spark plug lead. will it run wot when it's cold, and then drop back to 3500. are you sure it's not running hot, and the slow mode kicking in, to keep from burning it up. slow mode usually brings it back to 2500rpms. if it will not run wot, when cold i would consider putting a carb kit in it , and besure to remove and clean the high speed jets, that are deep inside the front bottom drain plug. do a little testing before the doctor.
