Hi everyone,
I have a question regarding engine hours.
I am looking at a 2000 Johnson 130 on a Four Winns deck boat. Boat was a rental boat in salt water in Sarasota since new. It has been serviced and maintained and is pretty clean. Was told it runs great with no issues.

Here is my question. The hours read about 950 on the boat/engine. Is this too many?

Since the boat was a rental and does have many hours the dealer who bought the boats (5-6) got them at a good price and is selling them at a good price as well.

If anyone can shoot me back any info or their opinion I would appreciate it.

Re: 2000 Johnson 130

Welcome to iboats mcd. Well that's a lot of hours for a 2000 almost 200 a year, but I guess that's normal for Florida, since it gets used year round, up here they have to sit for at least 3 months or so, which doesn't do them any good. If it was maintained well it should be alright. I would definitely do a water test and ask to see service records for things like carb cleanings and water pump/impeller changes. Ask when the last time these two things were done & check the lower unit oil for water. As long as you keep up the maintenance you will probably be alright, but keep in mind that used is used.

Thanks for the welcome Cricket.
Yes the hours scare em a bit but I will have the motor gone over if I get real serious.
Being a rental with 7 days of potential use for 5 years 1000 hours is pretty realistic.

If a rebuild is necessary for one of these guys do you have an idea of cost?

Thanks again
