Dusting off my boat to get it out for 2010 inaugural run when I found it would not stay running. Had all 6 carbs replaced professionally last year, and disengaged the VRO in favor of pre mixing fuel and gas. I added some new gas and oil, started her up, and after 30 seconds to a minute the engine would begin to bog down and sputter, then cut off.
I noticed that there was very little or no smoke coming from the engine, so I added a little more oil to the mix to make sure I wasn't running it too lean. Now it won't start (maybe I fouled the plugs with a heavy mix?)

What would make it bog down to begin with?

Why wasn't some smoke coming out, that?s scary to me?

I know how much oil I added, and know how much gas to put in to get the mix ratio back to 50:1, so what should I do now? The boat won't currently start after my 30 minutes of tinkering.

"carbs replaced professionally"

WHy did they replace the carbs?

Did you drain the carb bowls last season?
Draw some fuel and leave it in a ghlass bottle, check it for water at the bottom.
Do you have a water seperator?

I do have a separator, but haven't replaced this season, guess I'll replace that.

The carbs were replaced last year because that?s what the repair guy told me I needed to be honest. It ran great for a short while last year, and then I noticed after about 6 hours (engine time on new carbs) the idle was kind of rough, and it began to bog down and cut off when idling. I called the repair guy and he was little help. Little use last year as weather didn't tend to agree with my free time. Today was the 1st run this year.
