2000 johnson 150 won't start

System is getting power, but when I turn the ingition to start it nothing happens. Boat has OMC controls, it had a problem with disengaging the transmission. I started the engine, and it cut off after 10 seconds, no big deal there. I started it again and disengaged the trans. to give some throttle, when I put the throttle back in neutral to engage the transmission, it didn't kick back in. After several in-and-out-of-gear movements, the boat kicked into forward and I ran it back in. Cut engine off at dock, would not restart. Is this a problem with the engage/disengage device. Help please!

more information for clarification, the engine is a 2000yr 150 hp Johnson Ocean Pro, 290 hours on it, the controls, wiring, and gagues were replaced when boat was repowered. I'm no mechanic, so any suggestions would be helpful.<br />also, kill swith seems to be pushing the choke in more than it used to , I re-tightened the exterior nut, but it looks a little different than it used to.

My take is the guy who rigged your motor did not do it properly.
