I just bought a 2000 Johnson 9.9, I was winterizing it yesterday and thought the head was getting a little too hot. The motor was pumping water well out the telltale so I don't think its the water pump. My question is How hot should the head get?
There are much better experts here than I, but I believe max temp should be about 120-130F.<br /><br />As a guidline, 130F "feels" hot, but not uncomfortable to touch, and 150F "feels" too hot to touch.<br /><br />Hope this helps.
