I winterized the motor this week, last run in October - kept in garage since then - and I noticed a significant water leak coming from underneath the block. Water was pouring out the hole in the bottom of the cowling. Still had good pressure from the water pump indicator. I changed the water pump 1 year ago. I couldn't find anything in the service manual. I hate to tear the block off the engine to find the leak, which I assume is on the exhaust side since I had good pressure from the water pump indicator. Any quick trouble shooting tips? - Thanks in advance

Cracked water pressure fitting??? Hose routed so it has a low spot and can't drain causing the fitting to bust???<br />Just guessing here..

Have you looked at it running with the cowl off?

Re: 2000 Johnson 90 hp water leak

Its tough to mess with a water hose in the driveway with Wisconsin January weather. I did catch a small break today with the temps in the 30's. After removing the lower cowling, it looks like the leak is coming from the connection between the block and the lower unit underneath the carbs. Thanks for your suggestions. The exaust grommet looks to be a likely suspect. Thanks for everyone's help.
