So I have this 2000 merc 8 hp and on the right hand side of the motor, there is this 1/4" tube, that goes to the top and bottom of the crank case, a 3-way fitting connects them and then has a 3rd tube going to... well on my motor it's hanging loose. Now I see this brass tube fitting behind the carb and I'm assuming that this is where the loose tube goes. is that right? and is this an oiler tube. and lastly, this tube hanging loose, would it account for a poor transition from low to high speed? or should I also get a carb kit to overhaul it.
