2000 V6 Johnson 25" shaft

I want to measure the shift shaft to make sure I have the correct height. Does someone know what the correct height is and is it measured from the shift shaft assembly or the base?

26 1/4" +/- 1/32"....this is from the mating line of the lower unit to the center line of the hole in the shift shaft.
