I'm looking at used boats and I have narrowed down to a 2000 VIP Vixen 20 with a 5.0 Mercruiser and a 2003 Glastron 195 with a 5.0 Volva Penta. The VIP has 420 hours on it. The Glastron has 150. Both boats are one owner and have been serviced at the dealer they were bought from every year. The Glastron comes with a single axle trailer the VIP with a dual axle trailer.
I looked at the VIP last night and it was in good condition although it needed a good cleaning. Also it has rained a lot here in the last few days (6"+) so there was some water in the boat that had soaked through the cover. Is there anything there to be concerned about?
Performance wise these two boats should be about the same right? Maybe with the edge going to the Glastron b/c it is a little smaller and light.
Do both of these boats have wood in them? Or should they both be all fiberglass?
The VIP is 11,500 and the Glastron is 13,500. Should I be concerned about the 420 hours on the VIP?
I'm going to look at the Glastron tonight. What do you guys think?
