Old Impeller Did Not Have Dime Size Rubber Seal For The End Of The Shaft In My Front Engine Mounted Seawater Pump-new Kit Does-what Is It For?

Put impeller in and the dime sized rubber piece goes on then the cover,It will cover the impeller shaft.
