I am trying to get my boat in the water again, and ran into problems starting the engine after it has been sitting for 4 months now. Initially, it would not start at all, and now when it does get going, idle speeds are all over the place (runs high and then cuts out, eventually dies). Could this be a bad fuel problem (currently have ~70 gallons of fuel in tank)? Will an fuel stabalizer help? Any suggestions to get me back in water?

hello
well its to late for stabilizer. that motor has an O2 sensor as well as 6 injectors and a vapor seperator. you may try draining the vapor seperator and testing the 3 low pressure fuel pumps. other than that maybe a new set of plugs. if it still shows problems call a pro. that motor will not hesitate to smoke a piston if there is a problem
good luck and keep posting

Thanks for reply and suggestions. Did drain vapor seperator, this is what finally got engine to actually start (now is just runing real sporadic at idle speed). Also replaced plugs. I am planning to check fuel pumps. Thanks again for suggestions and reply.

Fuel was a little dis-colored, but not bad. I'll try to get hold of pressure gague as suggested. Thanks for help.
