2001 115hp johnson OR acting up

Went out this morning to fish and both my engines ran great. I stoped to get some live bait. When i started and ran again after a while one of my engines just died. It started right up but dies again. On my way in I WOT both and the one with problem ran good for about a minute or two then dies it starts loosing rpm and dies I also hear a clonking noise which i believe its the prop cause it was still in gear when engine looses power. I came home switched over fuel lines from the one that was working good and it ran with a miss at about 3000rpm also heard back fire. Turned off and now it starts and shuts down after 2 seconds. This is weird any suggestions.

Ok i have two 2001 johnson 115hp V4 Ocean Pro. I switched power pack and it did same thing. I also switched over gas lines and did same thing. On idle when I start the boat it starts fine after like 10 seconds it starts lacking power i even get a backfire then dies starts right up ok and does same thing. Its not power pack its not fuel problem what can it be. Can my ignition switch be bad?

check flywheel woodruff key. if it sheared it throws the timing off, and can cause backfire. also check compression.

Thanks for the reply but comp is fine on all cylinders and so is the woodruff key. I have the manual for the engine and im going crazy trying to figure out the problem. When the engine starts up it rubs great for 5 seconds this is in neutral then it starts spitting coughing losing power dies. If i try opening the throttle it last a little longer but eventually dies.
