For the first time, I replaced the impellor -- and did it in the water at low tide. Boy that shaft is long!
Other lessons/tips:
Lower unit: I used a longer bolt (the one under the anode) to hold the lower unit about 1.5 inches off. That made aligning the shift shaft (and attaching the speedo hose) very easy
Advice: get manual on CD for about $10; print out appropriate pages
Take photos of anything you think may be forgotten
Note: my new water pump ss housing has tabs in the wrong place; I had to use old housing
Also I had to glue O-ring into housing or it would fall off during assembly (the previous person left it out).
