2001 225 high output johnson outboard

are there any major problems with this motor? how does it compair to other major brand name motors? years back i used to here alot of negativity about johnson motors with being a dependable motor. how about some non-bios opinions, i'm considering buying one mounted on a 21' 2000 stratos bassboat.<br />P.S. since it;s a carburated engine does that elliminate the problems i may have been hearing about?

Welcome!<br /><br />The 225 HO is basically a 250. Should be a real neat rig. <br /><br />As far as your satisfaction goes, it depends on the service in your area. There were no big issues with that motor but if J/E service is "weak" in your area it may become an issue. If you have strong service facilities with good reputations, you'll be fine.<br /><br />Good luck!
