Ok here is the situation. This motor is on a tracker pontoon boat. I am going on my yearly trip on Saturday and I checked out the boat this weekend and here is the problem. I have 2 external gas tanks and no matter which tank I am hooked to when I squeeze the bulb is does not get hard and it does not pump fuel. The error is in the correct direction. When I would squeeze the line disconnected from the motor but hooked to the tank the fitting that plugs into the motor had an air leak around the ball. I replaced it and still the bulb will not get hard and when you squeeze it will not siphon anything out of the tank. I then removed the fitting on the tank end and stuck the fule line directly in the tank and the bulb get hard and the engine runs fine. So my question is do I have a bad fuel line/bulb? or tank pickup. I have a hard time believing that both tanks have a fuel pickup problem. They were working fine last year when I parked the boat. The only thing I did not replace was the fitting from the fuel line that plugs into the tank but it was replaced last year. Is there anything else I am missing. I have already ordered a new fuel line with ends but want to make sure I am not missing something obvious. Any help will be greatly appericated. Thanks.

Sounds like the lines on the pickup have deteriorated. or the screens are totally clogged up in the tanks. It,s not the bulb or it wouldn,t pump at all. and seeing it gets hard then it,s doing it,s job. so from there back is the issue. pull the pickup from one tank and inspect it. being the hoses are probably original and had the same amount of use and time on them ethenol has probably gotten to the both of them and ate them for breakfast

I am going to check tonight but one of the tanks is pratically brand new. Eveything was working fine until it setup last year but you don't think it is a bulb problem?

Had the hose in a merc tank go bad in under a year, another tank lasted 2 can be fixed with fuel safe lines.

Neighbor brats put some sand in your gas tank?

I have had fuel separate, then breed a slime that plugs up everything it touches, including the pickup screen.

I would agree but this is straight gas and not a mix. I am going to check it again tonight and will post back.
