Wondering if anyone here knows of anyone else having this problem. I am told these engines have water intrusion..and rusts valves and seats consiquently..loss of power, bad fuel economy, and its my understanding this is a common occurance (Defective Engines). Mercruiser 454 horizon engines...funny part is I only have 300 hrs on these motors..which are upkept perfectly. The starboard engine ...after the first season...only had 80 hrs on it when the exact same thing happened. I am told by the dealer i purchased the boat from that carver themselves discontinued using this mercruiser engine because this problem was evident..and no fix. I am now in the process of trying to sue mercruiser, carver and the dealer where I bought this boat Brand new in 2001. Any one who knows of this type of problem...maybe can enlighten me here.

P.s mercruisers answer was you outta warranty...we're not even coming to see this problem.... 300 Hrs...they have a defective engine..the boat dealer themselves admitted to me, changing (12) of these engines for the same exact problem...Well if anyone here can help me with some evidence of this problem other the ones i already know about , I would appreciate the help...and I am getting ready to get all these owners together for a class action suit.
