i have a 2001 crestliner 1850 sportfish with a 135 ficht and a 8 hp yamaha kicker . i did some investigating and the only filter on it is the one that is mounted in the cowl of the 135 ficht . I have a 3 way valve to feed fuel to the kicker pre filter so the kicker is getting unfiltered fuel from the tank.

should i add an inline fuel water seperator to the 3/8 line coming from the tank . so the kicker is filtered and the 135 ficht is double filtered.

I beleive alot of the troubles with these motors is bad gas and water from the alcohol in todays fuel.

I know these fichts have had some troubles but i got a good one this thing runs awesome and would like to keep it that way cant afford a repower due to bad gas or anything else for that matter.

The way the fuel is in this country today I'd put seperate fuel filters in before both mtr. JMO.

I have a 115 Ficht on my CC and it is equipped with an external water separator filter assembly. I check the water separator every month. Nothing in it in a year. I will change both filters and cut them open later this month. My boat sat in the previous owners driveway for 3 years so I am nervous about what is in the fuel tank, even though I pumped it dry. I am fortunate to have an easy to get to gas station which has alcohol free fuel.

I wouldn't add a double filter, that could cause fuel delivery problems.
