I have a 2001 Evinrude 90hp Fich and it will not Idle. It runs great wide open, but when I first
start it, it runs for a few seconds and shuts off. I have had the computer flashed and looked at,
I have changed the fuel filter; spark plugs and had the fuel polished. I have good fuel pressure. Good spark, and still can't get this thing to Idle. Can anyone help??

see manual 2002 and up but... it may help with some trouble shooting

like ETECs FICH has a VST and likely... it may have a small conical filter on the return fuel line from injectors and..... they do get clogged with fuel line crumbling pieces and cause grief

VST fuel barbs are very brittle if you do check DO NOT BREAK $$$$

check all filters .. tank pick up, lift pump, in line fuel filters etc...incl mushy fuel hoses !

I have 1999 Evinrude 90hp Fitch with an almost identical problem. Did you figure out what the problem was?

the best way to know what is going on in the EMM is to run EV diagnostics with a laptop. EV diag. version 5.9 is on Amazon for less tha $100 and will allow access to EMM fault codes providing insight as to what is going on.

EV diag provides sensor detected codes but cannot see inside a faulty injector having fuel flow problems.
injectors must be clean and serviced in a professionnal shop .IF a 2001 engine with 23 years of use has not been injector serviced well anyting can go wrong.
One can clean injectors (see Utube videos) but a shop has all the necessary eqpt. to test fuel flows.

replacing an injector requires EMM "coefficient" file updates using EV diag. otherwise damage may be caused to the engine
