Hi, this is my first post to this site, I have been a long time member of www.hotrodders.com but first day to this one, so be nice to the new guy. I have tried asking a few questions on hotrodders but they finally told me to try this site.
I just purchased a 2001 Glastron GX205 with a Volvo-Penta 305 engine with the sx drive. The boat has a little fire damage to it mainly on the drivers side of the engine. I am in the need of a few parts but am not sure of where to buy from. I am interested in online shopping but am looking for a good site to purchase from. I am also in the need of a service manual but not sure which one to get. When I looked at the Clymer series of manuals they have two of them. One is for 1994-2000 Volvo-Penta's then the other manual is for 2001-2004 Volvo-Penta's. The description for the newer manual talks about EFI and my boat is carberated, so I am not sure if the boat is maybe an early 2001 model before they started with the EFI and I should go with the older book or if the newer book would still cover the carberated models. My old high school shop teacher who now works for Spicers Boat City as a mechanic told me to get a manual directly from Volvo-Penta because it would be a lot better of a manual. I am wondering if there is a site that I could find one at and what all info I would need to get this? Or is the Clymer manual fine?
Also what is the part called that fastens the hydraulic lift cylinders to the drive itself to lift the drive unit up and down? I would imagine this would be some type of shaft that is threaded on each end I just don't know what to call it to search for it
sorry if spelling is off, i searched for a spell check but didn't find one
