2001 johnson 150 model rj150vxs1g

I am looking at buying a walkaround boat with a 2001 johnson 150 model rj150vxs1g on it..
I will do a compression test with the seller before buying it but i have no idea of what should be the numbers and tolerance for that specific outboard.

Anyone knows where i could get more info on that motor on the web or help me out with my question..

I am not exactly sure either..some engines run around 120 psi and I have seen some that run around 90 psi..I am not familiar with what the model numbers mean on the 2XXX models..but I would say that as long as the compression is fairly even and over 85 psi you should be good. By the way is that a fuel injected model?? I heard they had some problems with the early ficht models, many people will say to run the other way if it is a ficht, others say they are ok if you have the updated parts that are supposed to fix the problem.

No i do not think this is a ficht since it is not mentionned anywhere on it but i will try to know more anyway..
I was hoping that with the model number someone could also tell me if it's a ficht and what to look for..

From what I can tell from the model # it is a 2001 Johnson 150, it's white,has 25" shaft and has carbs. If that is all true that was a very good mtr. When you do a compression check they should all be with in 15 psi with each other max. You may find the bottom two cylinders to be a little lower but not to worry. That was built into the mtr from the factory. Stay away from 2001 Fichts but the 2002 were better. Best bet is to stay away from any Ficht. E-Tecs are still the best.
