Today i tried to start my 2001 Johnson for the first time in years after storage. I changed the spark plugs, lower unit oil, and new wires from coil to spark plug. I know there is a strong spark and fresh gas however i cant get the engine running. Any suggestions?

Almost certainly a clogged passage in the carb. Sometimes you can cheat and clean it up by removing the low speed adjustment neddle and spraying carb cleaner in the hole. But the better way is to remove carb and clean all the passages thoroughly.

Push a small wire into the tell tale hole. Could be a dirt dobber wasp has built a little something in there. If no water comes out then, its time to drop the lower unit and check the impeller. Years of sitting could have done it in. I would change it as a matter of course anyway.

The only thing that came out as soon as it started was a big ass spider (don't worry i smashed it to pieces)
