About a week back, I posted on here that I wanted to Remove the VRO pump from my 2001 Johnson 90, 2-stroke. I got plenty of replies and went ahead with the conversion.

Story is, the oil side failed, so I capped it off and ran pre-mix. Then the Fuel side went out causing it not to idle longer than a minute unless you kept pumping the ball, had a crack in the housing and the diaphram was cracked. The new VRO pump is about $400, and I could'nt justify buying a new one when I'm not running oil injection anyway. I was told I needed to keep the VST box on the fuel bracket, and most of the plumbing. Heres what I did.

I removed the fuel bracket from the motor. I removed the VRO fuel pump, and installed a new filter on the bracket. I removed the oil hose and zip tied and hid the wiring harness...don't need it anymore.

Drained all the gas, and cleaned up all the old oil and gas. I ordered Fuel pump # BRP 438559 (1976 Johnson 115 w/external vac fitting)

With the VRO pump removed, you have a nice place on the bottom of the bracket to drill two holes, and mount the new pump using long stainless bolts, lock washers and lock nuts

I routed the line from the filter to the inlet side of the pump. Cut a new line and ran it from the outlet side to the intake on the VST box. Heres the trick, the inlet nipple on the VST box is held onto the outlet of the VRO pump by a bracket and pressure. Heres how I fitted it. I removed the nipple, and cut the barbs off the end that went into the VRO pump and sanded it smooth. Fitted the new line on it and clamped it down...fitted perfectly. On the VST side, I used RTV black silicone to hold it in place, that way I could remove it if need be, but otherwise it's not coming out, and can handle gas and pressure

I re-installed the bracket on the motor and hooked everything back up...primed the system..no leaks.

Started the motor and let it idle.....never shut off again.

Heres how it the test run came out: Starts easier, and has a pretty good bit more power. Idle is WAY smoother and it performs like a new motor....like a different motor. The mod looks good, and so far has been reliable.

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP IBOATS!! I hope this thread can help someone in the future. If anyone is doing this and needs help..feel free to inbox me.
