I have a 2001 Johnson 90HP 2stroke on a Princecraft that I bought. Since I got it its been running flawlessly. However yesterday coming back to the Marina for the first time ever when I came off plane I noticed the motor running a little rough. When I slowed right down for docking, it died. It would fire up no problem around 1000RPM but the second I brought it back to engage the forward gear it would die. Low idle just sucked.
I brought it home and checked the plugs & compression. The starboard side plugs were both wet, but not completely fouled. The port side plugs were fine. I thought if I had one plug it could just be a bad plug, but both on one side I am wondering if it means something else? Compression was perfect accross the board.
Been running Seafoamed treated gas and its been running flawleslly up until this point. Only difference in yesterday's use I was trimmed up for a while tooling around a smaller river system. Lots of water spraying out of the cooling system the whole time, just spent some time at 1000 to 1500rpm.
Did I just load it up with the slow speed or should I be looking at a carb specific to that side? Any other thoughts?
