I have a Johnson 115hp outboard. It turns over great but does not start.
The rectifier and power packs have been replaced. Before I put any more
into this, I'd like to know if anyone has had this problem or what I should
look for. I think it is a simple electrical problem. No spark at the plugs
with a spark plug checker. My next step is the coils. they look worn as did
the rectifier and the power packs. hoping the coils are what is causing this.
The repairs I did had to be done anyway, but, did not solve the problem. Is there a kill switch that needs reset? the engine just stopped working.
Any Ideas? EDIT

Yes there is a kill switch. Where it is depends on what year this 115 Johnson is (see how details help). It is either a clip that goes under the ignition switch or there is a kill switch on the control box. Without the clip in place the engine will not start. The clip is attached to a lanyard that hooks to your clothing. Pull the lanyard (like you are tossed out of the boat) and the clip pops out, killing the ignition. The boat does not run over you. Clever huh? Now then, if you had invested in a service manual for your sepecific engine you would have found very detailed troubleshooting information and probably would not have had to replace some expensive parts just because they "looked worn".

Lastly -- the "Johnson-Evinrude" forum is where you would get the best and quickest engine related response.
