2001 merc 40 elpt 4stroke bogging at high throttle

2001 Mercury 40hp elpt moter that runs fine at idle and low speeds, when throttle mid range and up it boggs down and eventually dies. I had the carbs cleaned out. I am thinking now about which electric parts to check. Does anyone have instruction on checking the igntion or anything else?.

If thats a 2 stroke it could be the check valves in the fuel pump. Be sure to get the kit from merc as it contains new style check valves and instructions for installing them.
