I just bought a 2001 9.9 EL four stroke serial OT346210 for $1000. The guy never used it so he figures it has less than 10 hrs on it. The paint is still on the prop and skeg. My problem is he unwired it under the cowl and I need to know which wires go to where. I'm going to order a service manual for it but would like to get it running before I get it.
Thanks,
Dan

Hello Timdan,
Shure sounds like a good deal to me. That unit can be upgraded to a 15 without too much exspense. I will say though that I am very suspicious as to why he disconected the electrical system? I would get a good meter and check the resistence of all components before you reassemble it. It is a great little motor. Don't rush getting it running, wire errors can get expensive. Good luck, let us know what happens.

when he took it off his boat he didn't see the main harness plug outside the motor, so he undid them all at the bullet connectors. now I'm trying to figure out if he put them back right

There are some threads here on this. That mercury is made by tohatsu. I think is is jets and a restrictor plate removal. It is very nicely
made engine, You must take care of the fuel system and carb. Real good on fuel. Good luck!
