2001 Optimax Lower Unit work on 2006?

I just replaced my 2001 225 Optimax with a newer 2006 200 Opti. I was wondering if I could just swap out the lower units, because my newer one has started leaking some, and I dont really feel like messing with it right now.

Well it might be possible but, you will have to check the part numbers to be sure if the cases will fit. Then you will have to make sure the gear ratio is the same. Could be but with no serial, I can't say for sure. You will need a pump kit cause if you take it down then you might as well replace while it's at hand.
But if it's a 2006, I would think it would still have warranty on it. I would check that first off .....
