There are two drain holes located in the cockpit, at the rear of my boat. If I step to the rear of the boat, lake water enters through these holes. Then if I move to the front of the boat, the water will not drain out. Eventually, the water will seep out into the bilge through the battery access cover. Anyone have any suggestions?

it would be dangerous to plug the scuppers; if you ship a lot of water from a bow-stuff or stern wake, you couldn't drain it fast enough. Ayuh Ayuh

Many boats were designed with insufficient tolerance for the deck drains; I've read about this. It can also be a function of too much weight in the stern or worse, waterlogged flotation, but I would doubt it in your boat unless it was stored over winter with the bilge full of rain water.

You may look at the rubber flaps on the out port of the scuppers to see if they are intact and operating; they are designed to prevent this problem but they are not perfect.

You could block the scuppers from the inside with a large sponge to solve the annoyance and then remove them in bad conditions or while moored.

Or cut a small drain hole in the center of the deck in front of the splash well to drain it faster into the bilge, but not so large that an overwash overwhelms the bilge.
