2001 Yamaha 60hp 4 stroke stall problems

I have a 2001 Yamaha 60hp 4 stroke that wants to stall every time I try to put it in gear. It seems to run fine at higher rpm's but wants to stall in idle or when I try to engage it into gear. I use a good quality fuel additive and clean gas. I'm thinking carburetor issues or possibly a loose fitting quick connect on my portable fuel tank or the quick connect that goes right on the motor? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

what rpm is it idling at?

maybe following the link and sync procedure in service manual would help along with a carb cleaning

It idles at around 900-1000 rpm.

Sounds kind of high
is that in the water in gear or neutral?

If it is stalling when idling that high, you probably need to clean carbs a follow the setting procedures

It idles on muffs at around 900-1000. I'm also going to look for air leaks in the fuel line because the primer bulb doesn't stay hard after squeezing. That might be the problem?
