I bought the boat and motor from my brother who never hit anything but mud at idle speed. There is a stainless prop w/ no damage marks. Engine does not vibrate at any speed. When I spun the prop in nuetral I could see a slight difference, about 1/16 of an inch change in the space between the prop and the LU housing. Gear oil is clean w/ no filings . I cannot notice any bend in the shaft itself by eyeballing it. My question is...
Could the rubber in the prop be a little off? Am I damaging my LU by running like this?
I have heard the props straighten themselves out at high rpm due to the torque, is this true? Any advice, comments appreciated

Most likely the prop hub. If you're sure the prop shaft is straight and there's no vibration, take and run it.

Thanks, makes me feel better but I am going to switch to back up aluminum prop and eyeball the rotation of the shaft while prop is off.
