I got a different boat and it has a 2002 mercury 150L XR6 and it smokes what I would say is excessive for sure. I'll attach some pics. I'm looking for advice on what can be done or where I should start with diagnosis. I don't know if the linkage from the carbs to the oil mixer needs adjusted or maybe fuel line problems I haven't located. Any advice would be appreciated since I know I'm by far not very knowledgeable on outboards. 16228562861748350431192174793532.jpg16228563601413273543807426973306.jpg20210604_201526.jpg20210604_201731.jpg

What kind of oil are you using for the engine? At least you know your lubricating the engine good!

When was the last time you rebuild the carburetors? Do you have recent compression results? I would start with the simple things like fuel water separator/filters and run the engine from a fresh gas from a can.

2 strokes smoke that what they do.

When I had a carb Merc my first 2 years I had clean the carbs every year because they had gel like substance in them. I installed a shut off valve on my fuel line. When i knew it was going to set for more than a week, I would run the engine and close the fuel supply and let it run dry. Then hit the plugs on the carbs. Not saying you need to do this but excessive smoke can be caused by dirty carbs and problems in the fuel system itself (fuel pump etc).
