Hi all,
I am running my 2002mag mpi on the muffs for spring startup. When I run the engine at about 1300 rpm my starboard side exhaust is cool. The port side starts to get very hot, to a point where it almost makes steam. I shut it down at that point. The manifolds, risers and and raw water pump were changed last spring and I had no overheating issues all last season. I disconnected the port and starboard hoses that go to the heat exchanger and ran water through them with the hose. Water flowed out the exhaust ports on the outdrive with out a problem both sides. What I run the engine there is good flow out of the starboard side and little flow out of the port side. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

this tells you all you need to know

when was the last time you pulled the manifolds and risers for inspection. my guess is the water passages in the port manifold are plugged.

if your in salt, you should be replacing the manifolds and rises every 5 years

Ayuh,... Just the hull sittin' unlevel on the wagon can cause this issue,....

Water flows the path of least resistance, 'n level,...

Agree with Bondo, I don't see an issue.
Your on a hose and it doesn't supply enough water, and doing 1300 rpm's the hose cannot pull enough water from the hose so one side is going dry. Don't keep it up for long, the impeller is not fully immersed

Thanks everyone.
Could some explain to me what the purpose of the hose that goes from the bottom starboard manifold check valve thing under the engine to the port manifold is for?

I think I know what your talking about but give me your serial number?
Also do you have open or closed cooling, and does it have 3 or 7 point drain system?

While this is not the best pic, because it doesn't indicate the difference between raw and coolant. In any case, the Tee is a flush fitting and the piece on top is the flush connection. It is used to flush the raw water side with fresh water. This fitting is not used when the motor is running.
