Hi all,
launched 2002 350 mag mpi this morning. When cruising noticed a outdrive (I think)vibration when turning left or right. I could feel it at idle but it is more noticeable at higher RPM's. No vibration when going straight. Took boat home and pulled drive. Props turn freely, u joints feel good, alignment tool slides in perfectly and gimble bearing also feels good.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
thanks

If the gimbal bearing is not seated fully it will hit the yoke and center section at full L or R ,other than that its a U joint
See if the bearing cap rotates in the inputshaft, center section or input yoke

Thanks for the reply. Caps do not rotate and I do nor
see any evidence of yolk rubbing gimble bearing. No issues last season either. Could u joints be going bad without me feeling anything by hand?

If not a damaged prop or prop shaft then are they greasable one`s? Consider the cost of the U joints vs the repair cost when they explode at 4200 rpm

Hi
Not greasable, I will replace them. Ismitmamgood idea to,do the gimble bearing while I have drive off? It's at least 4'years old.
Thanks

Ayuh,.... The cross bearings can get rippling 'round 'em, 'n you'll never know, til ya pull a cap off,...

The gimbel bearin' is yer choice,....
I don't change 'em, unless they Feel like it's necessary,....
