2002 50 Merc Tiller Conversion?

I just picked up a 2002 50 Merc with a tiller on it. Is it a pain to convert it to regular controls? Should I just look for another motor?<br /><br />Thanks, Ron

Kits are available to go either way. Tiller to helm-steering and vice versa. You'll need a steering conversion kit. You'll also need a kit to convert to shift/throttle cables. Then there's the remote control with wiring harness you'll need. It's all in the Parts and Accessories catalog that any Merc dealer's parts department will have at the ready. You won't find any other source for those kits. Is it a pain to convert? Can be. Are you good at putting puzzles together?

I'm pretty good at puzzles but not sure I want to spend the time. Ebay here I come.
