I recently discovered I had bad gas in my permanent tank which is embedded under my console which is a job I want to leave for the fall. Thus I bought a 9 gallon portable tank with new hoses and what not which I keep on the rear deck. I cleaned all the clear gel out of the carbs and other parts of the engine from the bad gas. For whatever reason the engine will start up now great, but then quickly sputters out if left in idle. It sounds like it is not getting gas, yet the gas seems to be coming from the new hose fine. If I keep the throttle up over 1000rpms it can run, but if dropped back to idle or left for a bit it will sputter out. The frustrating thing is even when I was running the engine prior with the bad gas it would idle great in the driveway, now that I have cleaned it out it is not running. I would appreciate any ideas.
