2002 75hp Mercury controls

I am buying a 2002 Mercury 75hp big foot thay will not be coming with controls. My question is what year controls (ie 1995-2000)will work on this engine? I will be putting it on a 17ft CC that has a Johnson on it now. Is there a way to make my shift box work with Mercury cables? The shift box looks factory and doesn't say OMC or Johnson. Thanks in advance...

Well I bought the engine and it checked out great. Believe it or not the gentlman gave me the controls. During the install on boat the strap caught the plastic connector that exits head and connects to the pisser hose. Any ideas what the technical name for this might be and how hard its going to be to remove the old one?
