I found a 2002 Yukon Tiller with a 2005 40 HP Johnson 4 stroke for a pretty good price. Less than $7K and extremely low use. My concern is the motor. Looking for opinions and advice. Is the Johnson a decent motor? I've been focused on finding a Yamaha, Honda or Merc. Also, is the 40HP 4 stroke going to be enough? It's a 715lb boat. My thinking (may be totally wrong!) is that I should be looking for a boat with the max horsepower. But I've rarely seen a Yukon tiller with a 50 on it. I've know people to get a motor a little less than the max and be dissapointed. I appreciate any advice or opinions! Thanks!

As long as you are running 70% of the max power for the boat you should have no problems.

Ask for a water test before you complete the purchase to make sure. The 40hp Johnson is a fine motor and is very competitive with the other major brands.

Does anyone here have a Yukon with a 40 or 50 four stroke? Curious as to top speed, ease of planing with 2 guys and some gear.
