I have a question that has me perplexed if anyone can help. I have blown up two mallory distributors this year and one last tuna season. Boat will be running fine. All of a sudden, complete loss of power and my 50 amp circuit breaker on the engine gets tripped. I lose everything to the panel. Reset my breaker and then I have no spark. The surge is killing the module in the distributor. Wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I did replace the ignition coil last year. Could it be the culprit? I have traced all wiring for bad grounds, shorts, etc. Whatever is doing it has sent enough of a jolt to kill three of these distributors, blew up my voltage gauge once and today blew my RPM gauge. Thanks in advance.

I would check the out put of the alternator. Maybe even check for a bit of AC.
