I purchased a 2002 lund rebel with a 40hp yamaha 4 stroke. The boat has a steering wheel and forward controls. According to my gps with just me in the boat it will do about 27-28, with two pple in the boat it will do 25-26 does this seem about right? I figure boat weighs about 1500 or so the way it sits. I have a tach coming this week so i dont know for sure how fast the motor is running but it does have a 13p prop on it and it seems kind of sluggish out of the hole. I knew this thing wasnt going to be a speed demon but just want to make sure this sound about right for the size of boat and motor. Thanks

Re: 2002 lund rebel

I have a 1999 alumacraft magnum 165 cs with a 40 hp four stroke merc on the back and have the boat loaded down with a ton of fishing gear. I have my main motor, a back trolling motor, and my 24 volt bow mount trolling motor. I also have a dozen or so rod and reel combos in the rod locker, a huge tackle bag, 3 batteries, a 20lbs anchor with a few ropes and then all the safety gear. I put a 6 inch manual jack plate on the back and it helped out huge. I am running a 12 pitch prop and with a full tank of gas and 2 guys in the boat we hit 26mph gps speed. I think you are right on target for speed with what you have. I messed around with mine a ton to dial it in to where I have it now. I will also be picking up a fold up ladder and a ski pole for towing a tube. I will be running a 4 blade 11 pitch prop while towing but I think it should be just fine.
