Hello,
I recently acquired a 2002 Mercury 9.9 4 Stroke standard shaft, and I rebuilt the carburetor using the Mercury kit. During the process, I noticed I do not have a plug over the mixture adjustment as some have stated, and also the carb kit came with a new air adjustment screw. Previous owner had it seated all the way in, which I'm not sure is correct.

I've read for the 2 strokes that you back it out 1-1/2 turns. Is this the same for the 4 strokes? Does anyone know the procedure? Thank you!

Just to follow up on this, I'm getting a service manual in the mail, but doing the in water testing after the carb rebuild, the air mixture setting did run best after lightly seating the screw, and backing it out 1 and a half turns.
