Hi, I have a friend who has a 02 Opti that has the overheating alarm going off. He took it to a dealer who replaced the water pump and checked the system and returned it to him. I was fishing with him this last weekend and the overheat alarm went off again. He had close to 20lbs water pressure when the alarm sounded. He took it back to the dealer and they claim that there was debris in the pee hole and that was what was causing the overheat. We have a tournament this weekend and I am taking my boat as a backup as I don't believe a clogged line the size of the telltale would cause the overheat condition he has. Am I wrong? Could the clogged telltale line cause the overheat? I would rather not trailer my boat a couple hundred miles but I'm not convinced his problem is cured. We don't have the time to test it before leaving for the tournament. The mechanic did say they ran it in a water tank and it was ok.
