Re: 2002bayliner capri feul guage problems
before i got my bayliner in the water for the first time this year,i filled up gas tank.i have now been on the water about 3 hrs, with an average speed of 25mph.just noticed that feul guage is still showing well above full.i dont know but shouldnt the guage have dropped some.is foat stuck?guage faulty?how can i check how much gas is left?also, even though boat is 7 years old it has only been on the water less than 2o hrs.hope someone can help
Let's see....
A broken wire coming from the sending unit...would register as EMPTY.
A shorted wire from the sending unit...would register FULL (this is how you can test the gauge...ground the sending unit wire, and the gauge pegs FULL).
A stuck float will stay wherever it decided to stick at.
Have you tried tapping on the face of the gauge? Does the gauge move off of FULL, with the key off?
As for how much fuel you have used, the only way that I can think of, is to top it off again...and note how much you added.
