I have a 2003 Mercury 225 EFI saltwater series that has a hard time starting when hot, happens after we troll all day and then pull up to the fish cleaning dock. When I start up to leave the motor will be hard to start, if it does start it will sputter and die. The only way to keep it running is to rev the engine up for a little while. I have replaced fuel filters, fuel lines, spark plugs. The engine runs great when cold and hot. It will run all day no problems, it all happens on a hot restart.

i've heard, but have not seen it myself, that some have a tad bit of evaporation with a hot motor and require tha bulb be pumped up again when its hot... donno, may just be "boat ramp talk"....

That may have done the trick. We stopped at the fuel dock after fishing. Boat sat for maybe 15 minutes. I gave the primer bulb a couple of squeezes and it fired right up no problem. The bulb wasn't really soft, but wasn't hard either.

I'm going to give it a few more tries the next time I Harv the boat out to be sure.

I tried it again, this time I tried restarting the engine first, it stalled out and died. Squeezed the bulb a few times and it still stalled out and died. Maybe that didn't fix the problem and the last time was a fluke. I'm going to try again, anyone else have any ideas?
