Re: 2003 90 HP Johnson 4 Stroke - Opinions?

It is the exact same outboard as Suzuki DF90 except it is painted white. Since the Suzuki DF90 is a very good outboard the Johnson 90 4-stroke will be that also. Good force, fuel efficient, easy start regardless if cold weather, no carburators (EFI), rather quiet except on full RPM where it should be rahter loud (as most 4-strokes at full throttle).
Since it is 2003 maybe it is still factory warranty on the outboard? Anyway, if it has been serviced according to service schedule it should be nothing to worry about.
How many hours on it?
The 90 and 115 hp Suzuki/Johnson 4-stroke is very similar by the way (it is just they have squeezed out 25 hp more on the 115).

If the price is right I see no reason not to buy it.
I use a Yamaha F115 4-stroke myself (2003) that I'm happy with.

Re: 1998 v6 90 HP Johnson 4 Stroke outboard

hi, did you know that johnson introduced there first v6 90hp four stroke outboard motor in 1998. This engine was very powerful, quiet and compact. they were priced at around $11,995. But after a few mouths the lubrication system encounter a serious problem on 138 motors from a total of 200 motors that were sold. there was a major recall soon after... but some how private technicians found a way to lubricate this motor by using FFI...

EDIT: No selling allowed. JB

You will have to convince me that there is even one word of truth to the above, Doug.
