Hello. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram That has a 4 prong flat trailer connector harness wired directly into the main harness. My problem is that i dont have any signal to the right side brake and turn signal. everything else works fine. I thought that I could buy a plug in harness and use the signals from the lamps on the truck, but I was just informed that nobody makes that for my truck. Anyone else have this problem, or know how I can fix it. I am going nuts, I cant tow without lights, the cops just love writing tickets for that. Thanks in advance for any help !!!

I would start checking continuity. If you are sure that the problem isnt the trailer (You can get what tash has, hook it up to a known working wehicle set up etc) then you need to start checking for continuity and see where you are losing it. Part of my harness was taped together and cliped to the frame.....I actually had a break in there and could not have found it without checking for continuity.

Start with the trailer first and check to see if you have continuity from the light to the plug, then through the plug, harness to plug etc etc..

If your truck has the factory trailer package, there are fuses to protect the trailer light circuits.... one for left, one for right and one for running lights.

the GROUND is the most important thing having a faulty ground will make you see the wierdest things but those testers are wonderful cause you can check to see if the truck is working and eliminate that now if you want to you can get a battery from your drill etc and apply power to the plug connection to see if you are getting voltage to the light assembly thats the way i did it one day that i was in a pinch.. but defenetly check continuity and check all the ground connection

Amen! check and recheck the ground....poor grounding can make it seem as if there was a ghost messing with ya.
