just bought a 2003 8hp johnson off craigs list and was told it was a salt water model. bull**** or is there such a thing?

its becouse some spaecial primer paint to avoid aluminium corosion, and some extra zink andode

There were certain models in the past that were painted different colors, to signify salt water motors as well. These will more likely be found around the coastal towns, of course, simply because some users leave their boats and motors in the water almost constantly.
