I have a 19ft nitro bay boat (tunnel hull) that currently has a worn 3 blade 17 pitch prop. Being a bay boat I was wanting to know what a good replacement prop would be....possibly a 4 blade??

Unless you have some test data with that prop, and you need it before you spend money on a new prop.
There is no good answer for you. Take your prop to a prop shop and have it fixed up, then run it for awhile and see how you like it. Get some speed and RPM reading with best guess weights. Post that and the answers will come.

Re: 2003 merc 115 bay boat prop??

Went to the lake yesterday and ran with an identical prop as the worn one I had before (borrowed from the father in law). At WOT (5800 rpm 2003 merc 115 2 stroke) it runs around 35mph. When I cruised at about 4800 RPM and trimmed out to where it felt good, we ran about 28-30mph. This was with the cavitation plate almost even with the surface of the water.
Boat type: 2003 nitro bay 1900 tunnel.
A few more details: 2 people were on the boat and we had about 30 gal of gas on board.
I am thinking of a 4 blade for good hole shot but not sure what pitch I should go with to maintain decent speed. I would like for it to be a little faster but I don't want to sacrifice too much hole shot. Mercury web site says this motor can handle all the way up to a 23+ pitch on a four blade...is this correct?

That would be awesome as long as I don't sacrfice too much hole shot. I fish some pretty skinny water in the bays down here and need to get on a plane pretty quick. Thanks for they reply I will look into a four blade 19 pitch:)
