Hey boaters,

I sold my Matra to now get a bigger boat, either a runabout or bow rider. I found a really nice cruise craft bow rider but it has a BRP 2004 135 Ficht. Sucks because it’s a nice boat but the motor will be not worth the trouble. I know from reading here all the horrors.

i will try upload a pic tomorrow.

my question is by 04 were some of the risks gone?

I assume parts are crazy expensive as opposed to an etec?

Appreciate everyone put there two thoughts on this.

it is a toss up…. I have read lots of great comments on FICHT and terrible ones so … it depends

I read the power dist panels PDP are prone to solder cracks but easy to repair by resoldering the connections if you are familiar with servicing motors (electricals and mechanicals)

do the usual testing... compression and some real life water testing ...does it run ok to start with !!?

is this from a dealer or private can the dealer offer some warranty ??

is there anybody around your area that will or want to service a FICHT engine and the electronics

it could be a gem :peace: or an anchor ….

Thanks Crosby,

Yeah at 17k listed I'm not paying that for something which is an in between-er engine. Even though it's a great boat.

I might call local Evinrude guy to see what history he might have on it.

Pics of it below.
